I’ve just published a new inscription mentioning biblical Makkedah. It is written in Aramaic and dated to the fourth century BCE.
It is an “ostracon,” i.e. a pottery shard recycled into writing medium. For more information, you may download the article in PDF format:

After years of silence, Semitica is back!
Semitica was created in 1948 by the Intitute of Semitic Studies of the University of Paris, with a board including R. Blachère, A. Dupont-Sommer, Ch. F. Jean, J. Nougayrol, and Ch. Virolleaud, its chairman. In 1973, the Institute was transferred to the College of France; Semitica was regularly published until the 2000s, when it slowed down.

I am back on MaCasbah.net TV show, where Saïd Oujibou asked me more questions on the authenticity of Scriptures.
We talked about archaeology, apocryphal and pseudepigraphical literature, or the impact of scientific research on the Christian faith. Here is the full interview, which starts at 09:50:

Due to the success of the “Bible Facing Archaeology” conference in Orleans, a new conference is in order. The large hall will welcome both those who could not come in the first time, and those who want to continue the adventure!
Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 6 PM
at Joan of Arc Church (Bd Riobé, Orleans)
I will speak about the most important archaeological discovery of the 20th century: Qumran. What do these mysterious scrolls contain? Who wrote them? Why weren’t they immediately available to the public? What do they reveal on the birth of the Bible and Christianity?
A good amount of time will be left for questions in the audience.

A journalist from regional newspaper “La République du Centre” wrote an original paper on the “Bible Facing Archaeology” conference I gave in Orleans last week.
I warmly thank journalist Marie Guibal for such a pleasant and surprising text!
